The following details are of the 1980 Leyland Mini Clubman 1275GT, that we are restoring.

After purchasing the GT in 2001 and running it for 12 months, I looked into what serious work needed doing
for the MOT. As you can see from the pictures both the front floor pans were rusted out, on closer examination
the inner sills and door steps were not good either. Also the half the boot floor needed replacement. Another bad
patch was also the scuttle panel which joins the wing.
I left the car a few months deciding which was the best way to go. Then I managed to source a bare modern shell
which had been converted to clubman front with heritage panels. Originally a damaged Monza special edition by
the looks of the graphics on the rear wing. This was the only option at the time, as new clubman shells were
not available at this time.

I had my car to take parts from and 'make good' before re-assembly to the
new shell. The plan was then to remove all usable parts for reconditioning and then disposal of the
rotten shell. The old shell was stripped down, and running gear cleaned, painted and fitted to shell to make it roll.
Current situation is the shell rolling, inside floorpans painted, loom installed, engine bay being worked on for
powerplant installation. All the original parts like bonnet, glass, engine are still in storage
awaiting the day the shell is painted ready to re-assemble. 9 Dec2004
